Energy Efficiency Monitors
Energy Efficiency Monitors are small wireless devices which hook up to your electricity supply to help homeowners spot energy sapping devices used in the home so that they can cut costs from their energy bills.
Energy efficiency monitors usually consist of two parts:
The transmitter which clips around the cable on the home’s electricity meter, and the wireless screen which displays energy usage. The energy efficiency monitor will tell you how much electricity you are using, not only the cost per hour but how much CO2 you are emitting.
They’re NOT smart meters
Don’t confuse energy efficiency monitors with smart meters – these are what the Government hope to have installed in all homes by 2020. They’ll automatically send information to your energy supplier, so bills will be based on more accurate figures. Only a handful of households can get these now.
